I am a Soultographer!

I am 110% in full on love with what I do. Photography and design bring me so much joy and feed my soul.  I know I am living my soul purpose and that these are my gifts to share with the world! When I am photographing and creating I am totally in flow! It's almost as if times stands still as I see an image reveal itself and then another and another. When I am in this space I am so present and connected with myself, the earth, universe and my subject that the Inspiration becomes endless.. In those moments nothing else matters. The day to day chatter of life simply falls away and all that matters is the present moment with my subject. 

I created Gillian Hunter Photography so I can use my gifts to show you your inner light. So you see you the way I see you. To spread joy and fill spaces with inspirational  wall designs, artworks, and accessories.  

Herstory
I feel as though I am a native of both Utah & Arizona as I have spent much of my life, past & present,  in both places. I was born in Salt Lake City, moved to North Scottsdale, AZ at 10  years old, lived in Arizona for 18 years, and have been back in Salt Lake since 2007. 

For nearly three decades I have been driven by adventure in the pursuit of authenticity in my work. I refer to my photography as Soultography.  For me, there is no greater joy than connecting with my subject and telling the story of my subject through images. Even though my photography has taken me all over the globe, my heart remains, in Utah. I grew up on the slopes of Park City with my dad, a volunteer National Ski Patroller of 30 years. For the past decade I've enjoyed skiing the grandeur of Alta and Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon. When I’m not creating imagery & designing you can find me on the slopes, practicing yoga, riding horses, spending time at my family cabin in Midway, UT, or hiking with my hubby Brad and doggy Aria.

My love and passion for photography, art and adventure began at the age of 15 when I enrolled in my first photography course. The first time I heard the click of the shutter, I felt a bit of my soul ignite with purpose. That inspiration lead me to earn a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a focus in photography, become the Director of Photography for an art gallery, manage two photography studios, and finally to represent myself with my voice and eye to share with the world.  I am an artist, photographer, creator, designer, outdoor enthusiast, activist, soul connector, yogi, skier, nature lover, eco-minded, adventure seeker, funny, easy going, mindful, intuitive, joyous soul... 
As an artist,
my approach to my work is never routine.  Each experience presents a new opportunity to balance the subject with the environment in a unique, inspiring way. The resulting images are not simply pictures; but rather elegantly crafted meaningful memories .
As a creator,
my inspiration is rooted in nature.  For me, photography is an adventure in capturing the fusion of human emotion with the grand, natural splendor of the world.
As a designer,
I combine the art of photography with various types of visual accents to produce an individualized feel to a particular space, one custom to the taste and persona of each client.  I offer my trained eye, expert understanding of form, space, color, and mastery of technical installation.
